Performance:
WALKWAY® is a blend of calcium chloride and anti-slip aggregates. The calcium chloride breaks the bond of ice and snow impregnating the surface to leave a deposit of aggregate to increase traction. To do this Walkway is formulated with a blend of limestone and 15 – 20% calcium chloride.
The Problem:
All ice melters, under certain conditions, will eventually refreeze. This possibility is increased if the melted slush is not removed from the surface. This refreezing creates a safety hazard. Many areas can fall into this category because of budget restraints or unavailable maintenance personnel and equipment. A typical example is various mass transit systems of trains/subways/buses that move huge numbers of people with their assorted waiting areas, steps and platforms.
The Solution:
WALKWAY® is formulated to solve this specific problem. When the product is applied, the calcium chloride portion immediately goes to work with its quick melting action which breaks the bond of ice and snow impregnating the surface to leave a deposit of aggregate to increase traction. Should refreezing occur, because the slush is not removed, the exposed aggregate is still available to provide traction.
